The vast majority of the 13 million Jews in the diaspora support the military offensive on Gaza and the purposeful mixing of anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism to condemn anyone who disagrees with Israel

From January to October 7, 2023, eight articles about the Middle East had been posted on the website the earth is round; from then until March 3, 2024, another 173 articles have already been posted on the topic. And Brazil, based on President Lula's position on February 18 of this year, gained featured in the international media.

Although the Partition Plan for the creation of an Arab state and a Jewish state in Palestine was approved by the United Nations in 1947, the Arab State of Palestine remains an observer state, while the Jewish State of Israel is a state. -member since 1949. 1st. February 2024, The New York Times Magazine, bringing together Palestinian and Israeli historians, published a panel about the conflict that took over the region after the approval of the UN plan. Let's focus here on two emblematic cases not mentioned in the panel, Jaffa and Tantura.

According to the UN plan, the ancient Jaffa, with an Arab majority, would be an enclave of the Arab State within the Jewish State in Palestine. To prevent the formation of the enclave, even before the declaration of independence of the State of Israel on May 14, 1948, the Irgum and Haganah military organizations rushed to throw 45 thousand Jaffa Arabs into the sea, which anchored in Lebanon.

Tantura, a village south of Haifa with more than a thousand inhabitants, was invaded and razed by the Haganah shortly after the declaration of independence of the State of Israel, which ironically guaranteed equal rights to Jews and non-Jews. In 1998, the master's thesis The exodus of Arabs from the villages at the foot of Mount Carmel do Sul was presented by Theodore Katz and approved with a score of 97 by the University of Haifa. In 2000, the research was published by the newspaper Ma'ariv led Theodore Katz to the Israeli courts and the banning of the dissertation from all libraries in the country.

In 2022, Alon Schwarz released the film The tantrum, in which he interviews Israelis and Palestinians who gave the original testimonies that served as the basis for Theodore Katz's dissertation. There are Israeli interviewees who declare that there was a massacre of Palestinians in 1948 and others who deny it. The most tragic thing about Alon Schwarz's film is that those interviewed who deny the massacre do so in a mocking way, contradicting themselves and boasting immunity and impunity resulting from absolute power. Palestinian filmmaker Mai Masri commented that what happened in Tantura is today being repeated in Gaza, only on a massive scale. In your film Borders of dreams and fears, Mai Masri praises the sensitivity and humanity of the Palestinian people, even though they have been forced to live in deplorable conditions for more than seven decades. The dehumanization of Palestinians by the Israelis has a certain end: it justifies and facilitates their extermination – astronauts armed to the teeth facing children armed with stones and throwing slings.

Until October 7, 2023, half of Israelis were against the submission of the judiciary to parliament proposed by the prime minister and the streets were occupied by hundreds of thousands of noisy protesters. Today, despite demonstrations by families of Israelis who remain hostage to Hamas, seven million Israelis are united in the military offensive on Gaza. With the exception of a restricted and marginalized group of Jews organized in anti-Zionist institutions, the vast majority of the 13 million Jews in the diaspora also support the military offensive on Gaza.

Until October 7, 2023, there were Jews (and non-Jews) right-wing Zionists, left-wing Zionists, non-Zionists and anti-Zionists. As of October 7, 2023, the non-Zionist category was gradually eliminated. Left-wing Jews, until then non-Zionists, began to defend the State of Israel and associate anti-Zionism with anti-Semitism – with some exceptions, who felt impelled, by principles, to embrace anti-Zionism.

The Brazilian Israeli Confederation – CONIB, which was already committed to silencing Breno Altman, who in addition to being an anti-Zionist is Jewish, now has a much bigger target in front of it, the country's president. References to genocide and the Holocaust, which are widely used by Zionists to justify the military offensive on Gaza, are condemned as anti-Semitism and sacrilege when used by anti-Zionist militants or by anyone who disagrees with the Israeli offensive.

Jewish anti-Zionist activists, in turn, consider themselves heirs of the humanist, pacifist, internationalist and rationalist values developed during the Jewish diaspora, recriminating racism, militarism, nationalism and cognitive dissonance. They fondly remember the ancient fraternity that united Muslims and Jews in the countries of North Africa and the Middle East, until the advent of modern political Zionism at the beginning of the 8th century (when Jews represented only XNUMX% of the Palestinian population). They also consider that supporting the actions of the Israeli government encourages anti-Semitism.

The Jews, victims of ancient Christian anti-Semitism, are today, on their own initiative and supported by the governments of Western countries, at the center of tensions, in a troubled world in the dispute for international hegemony between the “civilized” West (NATO) and “barbarism”. ” eastern (China/Russia/Islam).
