In the week of Bolsonaro's return to Brazil, a petition with more than 100 signatures asks for the People's Court for his crimes

In view of the recent return of Jair Bolsonaro to Brazil, a group of activists, teachers, artists and militants called “Manifesto Coletivo” will deliver more than 100 signatures for the establishment of a People’s Court to judge crimes committed by your government.

These are crimes against public health, crimes of responsibility and crimes of indigenous genocide. Several of these crimes occurred during the management of the Covid-19 pandemic when Brazil, with 3% of the world's population, was responsible for 15% of deaths. Cases of active government negligence have already been raised by a Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry.

The act will take place on April 01, Saturday, in the Main Hall of the Faculty of Law of Largo São Francisco, at 14 pm. It will be attended by parliamentarians from different parties, social movements, activists and civil society representatives.

The People's Court is an instrument of civil society pressure on institutions that aims to mobilize public opinion, the visibility of crimes, in addition to the preparation of legal documents that can provide referrals to criminal proceedings. The choice of date is so that we do not forget the civil-military coup of 1964 and the torturers produced by it. They were granted amnesty in a shameful deal in 1979.

During President Lula's inauguration, we saw the cry of "no amnesty" echo. The explosion of popular feelings confirmed what the collective noticed, that there would be no popular tolerance for the actions adopted and encouraged by the former president that contradicted science and the care that should have been taken in the Covid-19 pandemic.

The feeling expressed at that and in various moments of national life is this: Without amnesty, Amnesty never again!
