By THE EARTH IS ROUND*

Why we support Guilherme Boulos.

The election for Mayor of São Paulo, the largest city in the country, is yet another decisive episode in the confrontation against neofascism and ultraneoliberalism – shaped by the rise of the right and the extreme right in the world and in Brazil in particular. Donald Trump, Jair Bolsonaro, Javier Milei and so many others are the pure expression of this movement that puts civility and, ultimately, the very future of humanity at risk.

The denialist attitude obscures the risks that capitalism poses not only to millions of dispossessed people, but to the planet itself. Ricardo Nunes, the current mayor of São Paulo, shares this position and these “values”. His innate ambiguity has, over the last three years – with the approval of the local justice system and the state governor – paved the way for organized crime to occupy key positions in the city and in the municipal administrative machinery.

This movement needs to be stopped. In this direction, the team at the website A Terra é Redonda expresses its position in defense of voting for Guilherme Boulos in the second round of the elections in São Paulo and invites its readers to follow the same path.
