In our interview with Leda Paulani, we talked about his theoretical contributions to Marxian political economy, especially about money in its contradictory character and financialization and rentierism as characteristic aspects of the current phase of capitalism. We discuss the role of the State in capitalism and how it operates in its financialized phase, with Brazil as an emblematic case of this relationship. Dealing with our country, we delve into the history of the local acclimatization of neoliberalism and its austerity regime, referring to the country's history since the end of the dictatorship. We arrive, in the end, at the “tight clothes” of our current economy, in which, according to Leda, we are walking “on thin ice”.
