The current nature of Karl Marx's work and how Heinrich's books can add to Marx's readings; MEGA 2 and its significance for understanding the work of Marx and Engels

In our interview with Michael Heinrich, we talked about the current nature of Karl Marx's work and what Michael's books can add to Marx's readings. We also discuss MEGA 2, its history and its significance for contemporary knowledge of the work of Marx and Engels. The Neue Marx Lekture, which Michael is a member of, was also the topic of our conversation. Michael explained to us what a Marxist approach based on the analysis of forms means and, from this, we were able to delve deeper into his understanding of the theory of crisis and the tendency law of the fall in the rate of profit, his positioning in relation to the thought of Robert Kurz and his vision of what a revolutionary subject and socialism itself would be.

Michael Heinrich is a political scientist and was a professor at the University of Applied Sciences, the University of Vienna and the Free University of Berlin. He is a collaborator of MEGA2, the institution that holds and curates the manuscripts of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, in addition to being the author of important books on Marx, including Karl Marx and the Birth of Modern Society, the first volume of his extensive biography of Marx and Introduction to Capital by Karl Marx, both published in Portuguese by Boitempo. Author of several studies on Capital. His work focuses on Marxist theory and the history of economic theory.
