By JOHNY GUIMARÃES*

at the cabaret door
the old whore:
varicose veins and tattoos

poor and brown
bread paper:
wrap a dream

she urges herself
with the fascist gesture:
raised right hand

a carnivorous flower
chews a dragonfly
and the sun, impassive

childhood lights up
at the foot of the avocado tree:
lit green lamps

on the beach sand
dead fish eyes
and a blue silence

satin dress
loose in the wind
a girl inside

if love passes
go with him,
watch out… for the rain!

between that
old friends
the falsehood first

no sign of god
only the lanterns
of the fireflies

stolen childhood
thrown on the sidewalk (hunted)
vulture food

dry leaves
on the floor
loves in the wind

on the asphalt
     scorching
Yes! a little grass

the garden and the girl
on the floor, a rug
 jambo flowers

at the dentist's aquarium
the little fish show
dentures

white landscape
   of pure ice:
   black bird
                     injured
