Leda Catunda was born and currently lives in São Paulo, Brazil. Your participation in How Are You, Generation 80?, group show at the Escola de Artes Visuais do Parque Lage, in Rio de Janeiro, in 1984, established Catunda as a pivotal point in Brazilian contemporary art and started a revitalization of painting. He participated in four São Paulo Biennials (1983, 1985, 1994 and 2018). Retrospectives and surveys of his work were also held at Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo (2009); Oscar Niemeyer Museum, Rio de Janeiro and Museum of Modern Art (MAM Rio), Rio de Janeiro (2014); Tomie Ohtake Institute, São Paulo (2016); Museum of Modern Art of São Paulo (MAM), São Paulo (2019), and Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires (MALBA), Buenos Aires (2021). In 2023 he will have a solo exhibition at ICA Milano, Italy. Catunda is represented by Bortolami gallery in New York, United States and by Fortes D'Aloia & Gabriel in São Paulo, Brazil.
