
Marcelo Guimarães Lima is an artist, writer, researcher and teacher. Bachelor in Philosophy from USP, Master of Fine Arts (Plastic Arts) and PhD in History of Art from the University of New Mexico, USA, with Post-doctorate in Philosophy at USP. He is the author of “Heterochronia and Vanishing Viewpoints” (Metasenta, Melbourne, 2012) and of essays and articles on art history, art philosophy, art criticism and current Brazilian political issues. He has taught history of art and fine arts at the University of Illinois, Goddard College and School of the Art Institute of Chicago in the USA, at the American University in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates and as a visiting professor in courses and symposiums at the University of Salamanca and Universidad Internacional de Andalucia in Spain. He was visiting scholar at Stanford University, USA, visiting artist at Rutgers University, USA, and artist in residence at the Center Genevois de Gravure Contemporaine in Geneva, Switzerland. His artworks have been exhibited in the US, United Arab Emirates, Spain, Portugal, Romania, Australia, France and Brazil. He has works in the collection of the Museu de Arte Contemporânea da USP and the Rutgers Center for Innovative Printmaking (Rutgers University, USA) and in private collections in the USA, France, Spain, and United Arab Emirates. He has directed mural painting and community art projects in Brazil and the US.
