He took free courses in Drawing and Painting at Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado – Faap, in São Paulo, between 1964 and 1967, and drawing, with Ernestina Karman (1915 – 2004), from 1965 to 1967. Between 1968 and 1975, he graduated in social sciences and post-graduated in political science at the University of São Paulo – USP. During this period, he was arrested for political reasons. He spent 19 months, between 1970 and 1971, at the Tiradentes Prison, in São Paulo, and attended the institution's free studio. He became a member of the advisory board of Guia das Artes magazine. In the 1980s, he produced abstract canvases and small-sized paintings, and, at the end of the 1990s, he executed the Ripas series in wood. In 2002, the book Sérgio Sister is published, with texts by Alberto Tassinari, Lorenzo Mammì, Rodrigo Naves and the artist himself, by Editora Casa da Imagem, in Curitiba. He also works as a journalist and illustrator, among others, for the book O Senhor do Bom Nome, by Ilan Brenman, published in 2004.
